Welcome To Password Self-Service

Passwords are an important aspect of computer security. Together with your unique Identification or UserID, they will give you access to many services offered at UAEU. Passwords are the front line of protection for user accounts and once authenticated (password identifies that you are the owner of the ID), you will be able to log/sign in. A poorly chosen password may result in the compromise of e-mail, ERP, active directory and e-learning accounts which contain your personal information and documents.

It may also lead to a compromise of UAEU's entire network. All student, faculty and staff are responsible for taking the appropriate steps, to select and secure their passwords.

The object when choosing a password is to make it as difficult as possible for a cracker to make educated guesses about what you've chosen. This leaves him no alternative but a brute-force search, trying every possible combination of letters, numbers, and punctuation. A search of this sort, even conducted on a machine that could try one million passwords per second (most machines can try less than one hundred per second), would require, on the average, over one hundred years to complete.
